Something really bothers me. People who are used to eating one kind of food don't try new things because they won't "like" how it tastes. Nobody likes new food the first time they try it because it's completely different from what they're used to. Read on!
The thing that most people don't realize when trying a new and healthier diet is that they are not going to like it! When all you really eat are sugars, saturated fats, and carbs--that is what your body is going to be used to. Your taste buds are going to know that one type of flavor and reject anything else. Our bodies are funny that way. That first bite of salad is going to taste like grass. The first time you try a veggie burger, it's not going to taste like a hamburger at all! Though vegan food has made great strides in the past few years, I don't think it is the industry's goal to taste like meat or drive-though foods. I know from experience that everything is going to taste different and you won't really feel satisfied until your body completely cleanses itself of the crap you were eating before. No, I am not saying you need to go on a "Cleanse" so that you will like vegetables. I am saying once you start putting whole grains, fruit, veggies (and all the vitamins that come with them) into your body as well as tons of water you will rid yourself of any residual "crap" that you've eaten before. This also includes toxins as well! After a while, it was like I could actually taste food for the first time. If you have ever reveled in the taste of a sun ripened tomato fresh from the garden then you know how important it is that you can taste all the differences in your food. One chemically engineered burger after another will dull your tastes and make everything just seem bland. Give your body a chance to rid itself of all the fats, carbs, sugars, and chemicals that you've ingested and stored over time and then try something you don't think you would have liked before and see if you still hate it.
There's an exception. People who absolutely hate green food--there's a reason! It's been proven that there was a poisonous plant in the times of ancient man that shared a single gene with some of today's green foods like broccoli, lettuce, green beans, etc. Some people still have the gene from ancient man that warns them of this "poisonous gene" in the plant by making them sick whenever they eat it! True Fact! My boyfriend did a study in his biology lab complete with test strips and all. I believe 3% of his class had the gene. Kind of crazy, right? Google it!
